Store Migration
Clone, sync & transfer stores

Workflow
How store migration works
Four clear steps with zero guesswork. Fully automated, verified, and logged.
Connect the destination store
Generate an Admin API access token in your target Shopify store and paste it into Kepvia. We run immediate pre-flight tests to ensure read and write permissions are fully valid.
- Pre-flight API permission check
- Token encrypted at rest with AES-256
- No passwords required
Select a source snapshot
Choose whether to clone your live store as it stands right now or pick any previous historical backup snapshot from your timeline.
- Live store or historical version
- Side-by-side snapshot comparison
- Clear version timestamps
Configure clone vs. selective sync
Choose to clone the whole store or selectively sync individual components — such as products, smart collections, pages, or theme files.
- Granular checkbox selection
- Preserve existing destination data
- Custom collection associations
Monitor live background transfer
Your migration runs on background worker queues, immune to browser timeouts. Track item-by-item progress in real-time with comprehensive destination ID mapping.
- Live progress monitor
- Old-to-new ID mapping log
- Full audit trail and summary report
Use Cases
When merchants use Kepvia migration
Designed to eliminate hours of manual CSV reformatting, broken image URLs, and lost theme settings.
Staging & Development Stores
Safest workflowNever test new apps, liquid code modifications, or checkout revamps in production. Clone your live catalog, theme assets, and metaobjects into a staging store and test fearlessly.
Multi-Region & International Expansion
Global scaleLaunching a dedicated US, UK, or EU storefront? Duplicate your primary store’s verified product taxonomy, navigation, and theme configurations in minutes instead of days of manual work.
Agency & Client Handovers
Agency favoriteBuild reusable store starter templates, bespoke theme setups, and complete dummy catalogs in development stores, then cleanly migrate them to your client’s live account.
Wholesale & B2B Portals
OperationsSpin up a secondary Shopify store for wholesale or employee purchases with identical products, media, and inventory schemas while segregating pricing rules.
Security & Reliability
Engineered for risk-free data portability
Your credentials and store contents are shielded by strict encryption and safe API safeguards.
AES-256 Encrypted Tokens
Admin API tokens for destination stores are encrypted before hitting storage. Only the active migration worker decrypts them during execution.
Pre-Flight Safety Checks
Before writing a single record, Kepvia tests the token scope, shop status, and rate limit quotas to guarantee a smooth, uninterrupted transfer.
Granular Selective Sync
You don’t have to overwrite existing data. Choose exactly which resource groups to clone without wiping records in the destination store.
FAQ
Migration questions & answers
Does store migration require Shopify Plus?
No. Store migration works on all standard Shopify plans (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus). You only need permission in the destination store to install a custom app or create an Admin API access token.
Will product handles and collection URLs be preserved?
Yes. Product handles, page slugs, and collection handles are transferred identically, preserving internal linking structures and SEO value.
Does migrating affect visitors or checkout on my live store?
Not at all. Kepvia reads source records via Shopify’s read-only Admin API endpoints on background workers. There is zero disruption to ongoing checkouts, shopping carts, or storefront speeds.
Can customer passwords be migrated?
No. For PCI compliance and security reasons, Shopify never exposes customer passwords over the API. Customer profiles, addresses, contact tags, and order histories migrate seamlessly, but customers will receive an invitation to set a new password on the new store.
Can I undo or review what was migrated?
Yes. Every migration run generates an itemized audit log detailing every record created or updated in the destination store, complete with direct links to the new items in your Shopify admin.
